Starting in 2004, airblue's fleet of next-generation Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft began offering world-class travel to many cities within Pakistan.

The company's shareholding structure includes a group of investors including Mr. Tariq Chaudhary with majority stake.
Mr. Chaudhary also serves as CEO and Chairman of the Board.

Airblue now offers flights to five international destinations:

Mr. Tariq Chaudhary - Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Chaudhary received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California in 1980.

Mr. Chaudhary is currently serving as Chairman and CEO of Airblue Ltd. He co-founded the airline in 2003 and after less than one year, with a carefully selected management team, achieved a successful launch of the start-up airline’s first flight in June 2004. Bringing his unique expertise with information technology, Mr. Chaudhary brought ground breaking ideas to the local markets, such as e-ticketing and e-boarding, and the company quickly attained brand awareness and loyalty in its first few months of operation. His exceptional vision and unique application of IT processes to manage the airline’s operation has been a fundamental contribution to its continued success.

Prior to Airblue Ltd, Mr. Chaudhary had founded three other companies in the USA between the years 1986 and 1999. He continues to serve in the capacity of President in Gigatron Software Corporation and Zapways.com, Inc. in Irvine, California; however his role is in an advisory capacity to the professionals who have managed the companies for the past fifteen years.

In addition to his business concerns, Mr. Chaudhary is actively involved in providing needed assistance to causes for social justice and welfare through Help Counts and FWF; charity organizations he founded and currently serves in the capacity of President. Each year both organizations contributes to the well being of thousands of recipients across the country.



Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi - Chief Operating Officer

The Chief Operating Officer, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, has over 30 years of management experience having served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PIA between 1997 and 1999, and as Chief Operating Officer of Davis Energen Limited between 1994 and 1997. He is an experienced pilot and also has over 15 years experience with a number of international companies in Project Management and Project Engineering roles. His experience in the aviation sector has been utilized at the national level in Pakistan and he has served as Minister of State and Adviser to the Prime Minister for Aviation between 1997 and 1999. He is currently a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and has also served as the Federal Minster for Commerce in 2008.

Mr. Abbasi holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of California and a Master's degree from the George Washington University.



Mr. Luckman Contractor - Controller Financial Systems

The Controller Financial Systems and Company Secretary, Luckman Contractor, has over 40 years of experience in Finance and Accounting. He served Pakistan International Airlines in various positions from 1978 to 1999 including Chief Internal Auditor, General Manager Revenue, General Manager Accounting, and Director Finance, where he was responsible for the entire Finance Department of PIA which had annual revenues in excess of $1 Billion. He also served as Director PIA Holdings controlling non-core investments by PIA including hotels in Pakistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, USA, and France; Director of the Serena Hotels chain operated by the Aga Khan Group; Director of PIA Shavers Limited, a Poultry JV between PIA and Shavers of Canada; and Director of the Duty Free Shops chain in Pakistan.

Mr. Contractor holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Karachi, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England & Wales, and a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Pakistan.

 


Mrs. Sadia Mohammad - Director Corporate Affairs

The Director Corporate Affairs, Sadia Mohammad, has over 12 years of experience in the airline industry in a variety of field and management positions. She served with British Midland Airways in the Flight Operations department and completed several professional airline courses. She has been responsible, as the program manager, for the procurement, specification, and induction of the Airbus A320 aircraft into the Airblue fleet.

Mrs. Mohammad holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Bahrain.



Mr. Athar Hassan Ansari - Director Engineering

The Director Engineering, Athar Hassan Ansari, is a well-respected airline professional with over 40 years of experience in the aviation industry in Pakistan. He has held various positions as an Aircraft Engineer, Instructor, and Engineering Manager on all aircraft types including the Boeing 747 during his career with PIA, where he also served as the Project Manager for the Boeing 737-300 aircraft induction, as the Chief Engineer Development Engineering, General Manager Training Center, and Director Engineering & Maintenance. He has also served as Director Engineering & Administration at Bhoja Air, one of Pakistan's private carriers. He is experienced in supervising all aspects of Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance for ensuring compliance with applicable CAA, ICAO, and IATA safety and regulatory requirements. He also has substantial experience in working with the CAA on airworthiness issues and in successfully completing the Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) qualification process.

Mr. Ansari holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from the University of Karachi, and has represented the Pakistan Aviation industry at various Technical Meetings and Symposiums at Airbus, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Boeing, Fokker, International Aero Engines, and CFM/Snecma. He is a life time member of the Pakistan Association of Scientists and Scientific Professionals, International Federation of Airworthiness (IFA), Society of Aircraft Engineers of Pakistan, Charter Institute of Logistic & Transport UK, and has served as Co-Chairman of the 2009 Middle East MRO Expo, Dubai.

 


Mr. Khawaja Muhammad Ahad - Director Flight Operations Control

The Director Flight Operations Control, Khawaja Muhammad Ahad, is an experienced aviation professional with over 30 years of experience in various line and management positions in the aviation industry. He started his career as a Commercial Pilot with Pakistan International Airlines and later served PIA as Flight Operations Manager, Manager Coordination, Manager Scheduling and Planning, Manager Routes and Manuals, Manager CompuFlight Services, Manager Fuel Management and Analysis, and Manager Systems Implementation. He has been responsible for innovative methods to improve operational efficiencies in flight operations at both PIA and Airblue; he also designed the "Quantum Flight Planning System" for PIA and was awarded the "Certificate of Excellence" for his exceptional performance.

Mr. Ahad holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Punjab and has qualified in performance engineering training at Airbus Industrie on A310 and A320 family aircraft.

 


Captain Kazim Ali Awan - Chief Pilot Flight Operations

The Chief Pilot Flight Operations, Captain Kazim Ali Awan, is an experienced pilot with over 30 years of professional experience and more than 10,000 hours of flight time including 8,000 hours in command on multi-engine aircraft and 5,000 hours as an Instructor. He has served as the Senior Pilot for the Pakistan Air Force VVIP flight responsible for flights of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, and has commanded an Air Base and served as Director Air Transport of the Pakistan Air Force.

Captain Kazim hold a Bachelor's degree from the University of Peshawar and a Master's degree from the University of Karachi.

 


Mr. Armaan Yehia - Director Airport Operations

The Director Airport Operations, Armaan Yehia, has over 20 years of varied experience in the airline industry and has served in various departments at Aero Asia including General Manager Marketing, General Manager Sales, and General Manager Airport Operations.

Mr. Yehia holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Institute of Business Administration, University of Karachi, and has completed aviation industry courses in Customer Services, Tariff, Dangerous Goods Regulations, Aircraft Systems, and Internal Auditor ISO 9002.


Mr. Ali Muhammad Khan Rana - General Manager Quality Assurance

The General Manager Quality Assurance, Ali Muhammad Khan Rana, is an aircraft engineer and manager with over 40 years of airline industry experience. He is certified as a line maintenance engineer on all aircraft in the PIA and Airblue fleet including the Boeing 747, and was responsible for supervising heavy checks on various aircraft types. He was also responsible for establishment of an independent Check A section and the Structural Repair section at PIA. He has attended SMS courses at Boeing and is part of the ICAO COSCAP-South Asia Safety and Continuing Airworthiness programme. "

Mr. Rana holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Karachi
and an A&P license from the FAA.

 


Mr. Raheel Ahmed - Director Commercial

The Director Commercial, Raheel Ahmed, has over 30 years of aviation experience including 12 years with airlines in Pakistan. He is an active pilot with over 2,500 hours of flight experience and has held various management positions in the Pakistan Air Force. He has also held senior field and management positions with Shaheen Airlines in the marketing, commercial, and corporate planning departments.

Mr. Ahmed holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Punjab and has also done courses in Flight Safety Management and Quality Assurance.

 


Ms. Liberata D'Souza - General Manager Flight Services

The General Manager Flight Services, Liberata D'Souza, is an aviation professional with over 20 years of airline industry experience. She has served with British Airways in both field and supervisory positions, and has been a training instructor for cabin crew. She also has substantial experience in preparing organizations for regulatory approvals and in completing the AOC process.

Ms. D'Souza holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Karachi.

 


Mr. Shaukat Ibrahim - Genearal Manager Corporate Safety

The Manager Corporate Safety, Shaukat Ibrahim, has over 30 years of aviation experience. He has over 3,000 hours of flight time including experience as an Instructor, and has held various management and safety-related positions in the Pakistan Army. He is a CAA Pakistan approved Aircrew Security Training Instructor.

Mr. Ibrahim holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Peshawar.
