Airblue Launches Lahore-Muscat Flights

Karachi—Pakistan’s fastest growing private sector airline, AirBlue Monday launched its direct flights to Muscat with three weekly flights from Muscat to Lahore.

The inaugural flight ceremony was held at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore which was attended by senior officials from CAA and airblue who saw off the first flight. Syed Aamir Mahboob, General Manager / APM Civil Aviation Authority Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore conducted the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Airblue held a simple quiz competition among the passengers of Lahore -Muscat flight and presented 2 return Lahore - Muscat- Lahore tickets to the lucky winners, Ms Nausheen Muhammad Illayas and Ms. Samina Majid were the lucky passengers who won the tickets. The tickets were presented to the lucky winners by Syed Aamir Mahboob General Manager / APM CAA.

The three weekly flights between Lahore and Muscat will be operated with a brand new Airbus A319 with a full economy class configuration of 144 leather seats, the flights will be operated every Monday, Wednesday and Fridays departing from Lahore at 11:00am arriving Muscat at 12:00 midday, the return flight from Muscat will depart at 13:00 hours reaching Lahore at 1745 hours.

The inaugural flight was received at Muscat International Airport by Sohail Amin the Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman and senior officials of airblue. The flight from Lahore to Muscat was given a ceremonial water cannon salute on arrival at Muscat Airport. Two fire-fighting vehicles formed a Celebratory Arch with plumes of water to welcome the aircraft. Both the inaugural flights, Lahore - Muscat and Muscat - Lahore operated with full load of passengers.


Airblue has also recently launched 2 daily flights to Islamabad from Lahore and 3 weekly flights to Abu Dhabi from Lahore. The Lahore - Islamabad return flights were launched on August 18, 2008 and Lahore - Abu Dhabi flights on August 24, 2008.
